Ive gotten a lot done on my truck this summer. Ive put in new retro gauges in from mid-fifty and they look really good. But I have a couple of questions. First where does the speedometer wire go through the firewall? There are two holes that fit, one rather high up on the wall right over the heater and one right under the heater. Which one should I use.?Second question: I have a 351W with an FMX (no girlie for me). Where does the speedo wire go into the gearbox??I bought the 18 tooth gear, clip and rubber washer, but I cant find the hole it goes into. Please help. Otherwise Ive gotten the windows in place with all the felts in and only ruined two, the heater with fresh air and the windshield wipers.Saving up to weld in the Aspen front. How much did you pay to get yours welded into place. Over here my welder is asking around 2000 dollars. Does this seem reasonable? Thanks for any commints.

On my 54 f100 the previous owner installed a 289 with a c4. He ran the speedo cable up through the floor opening for the column. It works.
I would shop around on the welding job. Sounds high. Good luck, John
