Exaust color
Upon removing a "shadetree" exhaust system from my truck, I noticed that the pipes were coated on the inside with a thick black soot.
Does this mean my carb is running too rich? Am I even close??
I respectfully dissagree with Clay somewhat. Perhaps a light soot might be normal in a vehicle with a carbureted engine, but I'd have to say a heavy soot would indeed be an indication of a rich mix. If it's greasy at all, then it could even be due to some excessive oil use. The pipe should be a light shade of grey if all is well.
