4r55e vs a4ld
All,
I'm looking at a '95 awd Aerostar camper conversion. I've read that the 4r55e is a better transmission than the a4ld, and that the changeover was '95.
How do I tell one from the other? I've looked up pictures on the interweb, and I don't see a difference in trans pans.
Thank you in advance,
Dave

good, one less thing, the vacuum modulator, to fail.
200,000 miles + on my 96 4R55E without a single problem running Mobil 1 ATF. Best auto I've ever owned until the BMW 750 8 speed.
Change filter. Gentle Flush with new cheap ATF, Walmart, then switch to 20 quarts Mobil 1. Several old posts on process. Add an inline filter. Bypass the radiator tank cooler, they hole and leak coolant into tranny, and the front air cooler. Put in the largest fin/plate cooler that you can fit in front of the radiator.
