I was reading another thread and then others too. I read the slam shifting I'm getting in 2nd to 3rd is a issue with the trans and not a chip issue. I have noticed it since the chip but I was not towing before it either. I see the tugger kit. Is this a good method of removing the slam shifting when I'm flooring it while towing it? If so how does the chip affect the shift? I have the 6 position chip.
It slams so hard I can feel the springs flex and I think I'm going to bust something.
If you remove the chip, does it still slam? The chip definitely can be the cause of the slam shifting you're experiencing. Glenn and several others have experienced this same issue with a tune that is too aggressive. The E4OD is electronically controlled so the PCM can most certainly cause the trans to shift too hard.
I don't think a tugger kit is going to fix this issue for you, though I know guys do like them a lot. You will probably need to have a different tune built for the truck after installing the tugger kit though, as the tuner will need to change the tune due to adding the tugger kit, otherwise you'll be making the issue worse instead of better.
