well i go to the post office and the lady says it must be the large box in the back...had me go to the loading dock! LOL It was actually marked "Heavy" with a sticker. Funny, only weighs around 35 to 40 lbs, but should never have been sent this way....here is what all the fuss was about.
USPS pretty much sucks around here in general. The postwoman will drive up to the house when/if needed (no problem) but the local post office is in a different league. One time, had a box that was delivered to the PO and they had it behind the counter - went in to pick it up - they said they could not hand it to me over the counter. Had to wait a couple more days for them to put in my mailbox. Don't understand that.

I closed my P.O. Box a couple of years ago. I went in to the post office and turned in my keys and forwarded my box to my house. The guy then tells me there is a piece of mail with the box address on it, but he can't give it to me. It needs to be delivered to the house. The next day it wasn't in the mailbox so I went back to the post office to ask about it. Turns out the letter had to be sent to the regional forwarding center (or some bs like that) before it could be delivered. That letter made a 200 mile round trip to end up back at the same exact post office to be delivered 3 days after they could have handed it to me across the counter. Talk about government efficiency!
If boxes left unattended get stolen all the time in your neighborhood, the USPS isn't going to leave them out where they can get swiped. Why would they?
I've never had a problem getting boxes dropped on my porch either here or in Michigan.
But people that steal mail around here don't last long. They end up breaking big rocks into small rocks.
Instead of complaining about the USPS, try talking to the Local LEO's. I'm sure the Mail People would rather deliver something instead of having to hassle with taking it out and bringing it back all the time.
There is the occasional butthead, of course. But not too often.
We live in a somewhat rural area and have a good post office. They pull up the drive if there are large packages. One always asks about our dogs. We give them cookies every Christmas and talk with them now and then throughout the year. Not sure if this is why they are good but it makes for a better relationship.
