I agree 110%, their customer service is pretty bad. Their people skills are the worst of the worst which probably is a big factor in the poor customer service.
I know my postal guy, and I leave him a Christmas card and a small gift around Christmas time, he has no problem getting out of his truck and walking my boxes up on my front porch.
we have a good relationship to the lady who usually delivers.....but she is now part time it seems.....i have no idea who this lazy person was. Will give them a little ear full when i have to drive out of my way to the postoffice. in the grand scheme of things this is small, but considering the source.....pisses me off! LOL
We have a great relationship with our mailman.. leaves the dog a treat every day evan if there's no mail.. and he always comes to the back door and knocks if there's a package that don't fit in the box.
I agree, USPS sucks. The old guy that delivers to us will stuff any kind of package in our mailbox. He started leaving me notes, "a bigger mailbox would be nice". Then one day he jammed a box so hard and far into our mailbox I had to cut it apart to get it out. I contacted our post office, told them the situation, and asked if they are supposed to deliver packages to the house or just at the mailboxes. They said they had a talk with him and yes, they are to deliver them to the house. Still have some issues with the guy, but nothing like that one time. He leaves the packages at the walkway along the driveway whereas UPS and FedEX deliver to the front door.
Thankfully our regular driver will drive up to the house, and leave them inside the garage. As does the UPS driver (who also brings dog treats - leaves them on the packages if the dogs aren't out). Fedex depends on which driver... most of them leave the package outside.
Our mailman crammed a box into our USPS-provided mailbox so hard that my wife couldn't turn the key. She called me and I coached her through it. But it shows a certain amount of carelessness on the part of the mailman to do that.

I agree. Sure, service probably does suck for some people in certain areas.
My rural carrier and her sub will honk the horn if we have a package. If we're not here they'll leave it at the door. That's good enough in my book.
Maybe you live in a bad area for theft and instead of leaving it on your door step they want you to come get it since it may be stolen. I have shipped and received many items through usps. Even fishing poles who everyone complains about how breaking. Never a single problem
USPS and airline checked baggage is in the same league: I have to use them occasionally, but I do my best not to entrust either of them with anything that I really want to see again...
