Ok my truck is a 1968 C900 with a 534 gas engine. Standard trany with a hydraulic clutch. The truck is equipped with air brakes. My steps a little rottted and I need to repair them. Over all the truck isn't in to bad of shape.i have found a place where I can get a lot of parts but the steps.

Numberdummy will confirm, but I think in the step department, all those cabs were the same. So any C series could be a donor.
Is there a plate on the driver door with the VIN? It also has trans and axle codes.

I have notice it looks like an Eaton rear axle, so can I presume the from would be the same?

No. Axle codes are on that plate, not in the VIN.

There is a tag on the pass door. I can see the rear axle stuff but not the front. Next time I am out by the truck I can get a picture of it.

C90 = C900 (gas).
L = 534 4V
V = Kentucky Truck Assembly Plant.
M30301 = 1971 (are you sure it's 3
03 01?)
AXLE code stamped on the 2nd line-far right of the Warranty Plate, riveted to the
left (drivers side) door face below the latch.
Pic of build sheet in post #10 has this front axle ID number:
C7TA-3010-Y = This is a Ford 9,000 lbs. capacity front axle.

Really appreciate your help. I've been told it's a 68 but the build sheet from young fire equipment says it's a 71.
