I seem to recall something about closed loop vs open loop and O2 sensors.
Maybe do some research on that.
I didnt think about that. My truck is only equipped with two upstream O2s from the factory. I do have long tube headers and no cat, but the idle surging existed prior to the exhaust modifications, and if anything smoothed out a bit when I put the headers on. However, I don’t recall replacing the O2s, and if I recall they should run open until the vehicle is up to temp, then closed loop once it’s up to temp and should be feeding input to the PCM to adjust fuel trim for the best A/F mixture. I don’t have any codes for them, but I will inspect and probably replace them to see if that helps, since Motorcraft ones are still available I may check into that and see if maybe the O2s aren’t the issue here as well. Thanks!

I have a 2005 2 valve V10 that with the idle drifting up and down by 50 - 100 RPM every couple of seconds. I cleaned the throttle body (it was all coked up) and this cleared up most of the issue for my engine.

After replacing all 10 spark plugs and COPs on my 2000 V10 Excursion I have a intermittent spark plug miss.

Is there a plug in scanner that can identify the errant spark plug?

Did you also change out the spark plug wires? I had to change mine after the last spark plug change due to misfires. Be sure to use dielectric grease.

You have my truck

I have the same issue with my truck and have done aa that you have with the same results, none. the only thing that comes up is Lean bank 1 and 2. At one time with the analyzer hooked up it showed misses, till I got to 2600 rpm, then the misses stopped. Still missed at idle, but no longer showed up on analyzer. I am new to the forum not to the issue , wanted to let you know you are not alone, I know that is not help you , but I am not giving up on this truck or issue one day one of us will find it and we be better off.

If it's lean on both bank 1 & 2 there's a good chance the problem is between the air intake and the intake manifold.
Ours was a soft PCV hose that would intermittently cause a vacuum leak.
The IAC valve controls all airflow into the engine at idle.
The MAF could be dirty/faulty.
Maybe a leak in the air duct between the MAF and the throttle body.
There might be a lot of sludge under the throttle body butterfly that can be cleaned.

MAF is new, throttle body removed and cleaned, smoke test have been done, IAC replaced, Intake manifold has not been removed but I did not have any smoke leaks when tested, and vacuum test were good too. Did old timer test sprayed starting fluid a around the intake and hoses. Starting to think ECU .
