hey guys I posted a thread in the axle, clutch, transmission section last week and I've got zero replies. I will cut to the heart of the rehear I already posted with my two most important questions. Truck is 97 f250 heavy duty 4x4 supercab short box 7.5 zf-5. First question, I have a chance to pick up a Dana 60 with correct gearing cheap. It's from a 96 f350 dually dump. First question is, this axle is from a dually so it has those wide front hub spacers or whatever they are called. So the question part is will the hubs and spindles from my d50 ttb swap in place of the spindles on that axle? I've searched and I have read thread after thread and I've found info that leads me to believe that spindles of the d50ttb axle are same as spindles on the Dana 60 from a regular f350. I can't find any direction answers if my spindles will swap on the dually axle tho so I thought I'd ask the question myself. Second part of question is about the trac bar and bracketry. This axle has none of that with it. I plan on doing a shackle flip or reversal kit on this truck so the question, if I do the shackle flip/reversal do I then still need the trac bar? From all the reading I've done I been led to understand that the main reason Ford used the trac bar set up is because of the type of shackle set up they ran. So in my mind if I were changing that set up then I would no longer need the bar right? That question is important to me tho because I have read that finding the bracket and the spring pad bracket for trac bar by themselves is near impossible. So I don't wanna drop 300 on an axle that I can't use. I need to make a decision in next day or so on buying it. I really have done a lot of searching and reading and I just can't find direct answers so any help would be great. I just picked up a rust free southern bed for this truck yesterday for a good price. So money is kinda tight after that and I don't wanna tie up a few hundred on axle but I sure don't wanna pass on it if I have the opportunity to get just the axle.
Your hubs will interchange. I've done a couple of the shackle reversals and some needed the track bar and others didn't. If you can cut and weld then it's best to make a track bar . The factory one is too short and doesn't follow the arc of the steering. I can get some pictures of mine if you need.

thanks for reply I never considered making my own, if you don't mind my asking, when you say some needed it some didn't can I ask what determines if it is needed or not. I was surprised when I first saw that Ford used them on the later trucks because I was picturing my old 75 and 78 f250's and neither had a trac bar so I never thought it was needed with leaf sprung vehicles. I get it with coils.
Set up properly you can get away without a track bar.
Chevy, Dodge and pre-79 Fords don't have track bars with their leaf suspension due to the steering linkage. They have push/pull type steering and later Fords have crossover.
The crossover steering pushes the suspension left and right as you steer. The other type is basically held by the fixed end of the leaf spring.
