Trying to help out a friend with his truck. 01' F-350 SD with Dana front rear there is a bracket welded to the right side axle. Looks from his pic. that he sent me it goes to the left side, maybe something for steering. Maybe control arm ??
Can this be bought aftermarket? He is telling me he has to buy a complete used axle for this part, I don't believe it. Does anybody have a part breakdown or something I can use?

It sounds like you are describing the track bar mount, If so I think it looks like it is bolted on the axle through the u-bolts so you should be able to replace it. If you could post up some pics that would help us to know for sure..
sounds like you are talking about the lower spring plate, the track bar and the sway bar also are bolted to it,this plate is welded to the axle and is not available seperate from the axle housing, mine rusted through and i had a welder/fabercator fix it,
