Ok I can't seem to find much on this. I have a 2011 f350 cclb with 120k on it. Was coming home today and all of a sudden I got a reduced power notification and the motor quit. So I replaced the fuel filters and the fuel pump runs for 30 seconds and stops. I have done the 6 cycle 30 seconds for the filter change but the system does not seem to stop cycling. The motor still will not start and I can feel what seems like fuel moving thru the filter located in the engine compartment. I tried clearing the code which was in the system twice. Anyone have any suggestions.

P0087 - Fuel Rail/System Pressure - Too Low

Fuel pump going bad? Obstruction to the fuel pick up in tank? Have no clue other than you do not have adequate fuel pressure.

Fuel Rail Pressure Monitors:

The pressure in the fuel rail is controlled by a closed-loop control strategy that is always active during vehicle operation. Two controllers may be used to control the rail pressure: the Pressure Control Valve and the Volume Control Valve. The Pressure Control Valve is used to control pressure at engine start and when fuel temperature is low. The Volume Control Valve is used to control fuel pressure under most other conditions. A third operation mode allows fuel rail pressure to be controlled by a combination of the Pressure Control Valve and Volume Control Valve; this mode is typically used to transition from control by one device to the other and in regimes where low fuel volume is required.

The fuel rail pressure is controlled either with the Pressure Control Valve, the Volume Control Valve, or both, depending upon engine operation condition. The high and low Fuel Rail Pressure Monitors detect when there is an excessive deviation from the desired fuel pressure when the controller has reached a control limit or when the minimum or maximum allowable rail pressures are exceeded.

I think I would check the fuel cutoff switch just to be sure it didn't trip. But this does sound like something else.

Just an update, I found an air leak in the fuel line after the second filter. There is a little corrosion around the base of the sensor mount and that is where it is leaking, hopefully that is all it is. Still a relatively big job though. Has anyone else seen this type of leak?

Update, replaced fuel lines that go to fuel rails, still have a no start condition and I checked the old fuel filter and it does not appear to have any metal particles in it.

Do you add fuel treatment? There have been a number of fuel flow issues that were resolved when the peel off cover of the treatment bottle was found in the fuel tank.
