Nobody seems to have posted about straight pipes yet. I installed a cat-back straight pipe on my 350 and it sounds .... OK, but still too quiet. The DPF is effectively a huge muffler that eliminates most of the exhaust tone. A straight pipe like this one only removes the resonator, giving the exhaust slightly more tone when you accelerate, but having little to no effect in other conditions. I'm reluctant to do a full DPF delete while the truck is still under warranty. But one day... heh heh heh heh
Here's a little vid of how quiet my 'straight pipe' is.
Isn't not having those holes in your tailpipe not good?
I was wondering the same thing. Ford calls out the cleaning of those holes as a routine maintenance item. I always wondered what the function was supposed to be.

Yeah, I was under the impression that the holes were to draw in cooler air while the DPF was running a regen, which creates a lot of heat. Pulling in cooler air would cool the exhaust exiting the tip and thus not cause paint issues.
I installed a 5" MBRP filter back setup and it has holes in the pipe right before the tip. You can see them in the picture below (just behind the tire).

that looks awesome.
how much you guys paying for a glorified tailpipe? sawzall and a piece of 3" or whatever diameter the exhaust is would give you the same result

Agreed, It could easily be cheaper piecing it together. But, MBRP builds a nice setup and what's $250-300 on a $70k+ truck???
Straight pipe means you have only a pipe from the turbo back to the tail.
Those holes on the end of the tail pipe pull cool air into the exhaust stream, effectively creating a low pressure effect that pulls the hotter exhaust further up the stream more quickly down the pipe.
I had a 4" straight pipe on my 6.0L, the engine noise was amazing, and the turbo whine was glorious. I really miss that setup. However I'm not touching anything until the warranty is up. My brother in law got hosed by Ford for not having the stock tail pipe on. His DPF system failed under warranty and they blamed it on him not having the stock intercooler tip installed. He could've fought it with a lawyer, but it would've probably cost more than the $1700 repair to the DPF system.
It sucks, but I'm just gonna have to live with stock for a while.
