Have any of you cleaned/washed the 6.7 diesel engines in these ....I use to use engine bright or something and sprayed my 6.0 with no problems....around here I get sand build up and like to keep the engine looking good too.
I clean mine every month or so. Spray the cold engine while avoiding the PCM pigtails, fuse box, and alternator with a ton of water. Usually spray a light coat of degreaser on a wet engine and let it sit for 30 seconds then rinse. Have done this on all my diesels. Never an issue. A clean engine bay makes me happy!
Modern engines are designed to withstand a certain amount of water. I highly recommend following this guide if you plan to wash your engine. I used the same process and all I have to say is wow. https://youtu.be/PRSoRkM8GcM
I've used this stuff a couple of times and I will never use it again. The nasty smell lingers for a very long time. AMSOil makes a citrus based degreaser that smells great and it is about as effective as the Gunk. Unfortunately, it's way over priced.
While I haven't had this one long enough to get engine bay dirty, on previous vehicles, I'd spray the engine compartment with a gun style hose nozzle adjusted to "mist" rather than "stream", and just rinsed the entire engine bay down, avoiding fuse boxes and the alternator. Then I'd use my leaf blower to blow as much dry as possible, start the engine briefly to dry belts and pulleys, and toweled the rest. Lastly, I'd take it for a short drive to cook off any remaining moisture. Never had an issue.
I would think modern 4WD vehicles would be designed to handle more than the average "paved road water" splashing up into the engine compartment, so I'm not concerned about washing the engine bay. This is basically what I do: How to Detail Your Engine Bay | Ask a Pro Blog
