With conventional it is around 100,000 miles.

With ELC it is around 500,000 miles...

If you properly flush all that old coolant following the Gooch guidelines, you will eliminate the need to flush at later dates if you put ELC in. Once you eliminate the silicates, you eliminate the main reason for needing to flush in the first place (silicate drop out).

Yes. I will be following Gooch's guide for this. Shell Rotella ELC concentrate - 6 gallons ordered.

You only need four gallons of ELC to do the proper flush. You will need about 20 gallons of distilled water though.

Maxlife ATF multi-vehicle formula (includes Mercon V). It's not licensed by Ford but is known to be a good transmission fluid in the 4R100. Wal-mart also sells Supertech (wal-mart) Mercon V which is supposed to be good.

The best is probably Mobil 1 synthetic Mercon V but it's expensive when you consider that these things take about 20 quarts of fluid to do a full change.

Lightbulb On the other hand

^^^^^ All excellent tips from: Art, Andy and Mike. ^^^^^

1. Pop open every trim piece and re-tighten:
Oh s hit bars / grab handles
"A" pillar handles
Rear door/hatch handles

2. Replace any missing trim cover pieces on aforementioned handles.

3. Torque down the Transmission Shift assembly

4. Replace the Multi Function Switch (headlight/dimmer, turn signal, wiper, emergency flasher).

5. Replace the
Brake pedal cover Brake pedal cover
.

6. Start saving for new fuel injectors necessary between 275,000 -325,000 miles approximately $1700-$3000.

7. Replace all bulbs behind the gauge cluster

I'm sure there is something else I forgot.

One other thing is to upgrade all the interior lights to led's. You would be amazed how hot the original ones are. Most of my light sockets suffered from high heat and some even had burn marks!!

Art
This is on my list to-do. I need to search look for a comprehensive list of bulbs that need to be procured.

There is a pretty good guide in the tech folder. I used one of them. Then just shop around. Or you can even go to most sites and just punch in your vehicle and they will provide the correct ones.

Get a second mortgage while you're at it... I mistakenly tallied all the money I've spend on my Ex - it was a really bad idea. Not bad to spend it, just bad to tally it up

How much was maintenance?
How much was a necessity?
How much was an upgrade? A want not a need?
How much was bling?

Divide the number by a PSD/SUV vehicle payment (a new PSD/SUV would cost between $65,000 for an XL and $85,000 for a Limited or Lariat if not more) $1300.00 - $1800.00 monthly payment.
