Need a little quick advice CPS, IPC, EBP, Water Pump, etc.
2000 Excursion 7.3 PSD
Been having some minor but problematic issues lately (truck shutting off, loss of power, exhaust flutter, etc). Scanned using AE, got a bunch of codes, ordered black International CPS, checked IPC, etc. Anyway, while waiting for parts, the water pump started leaking. Sooo, a few quick questions.
It looks like the IPC needs replacing (oil in the connector). I've ordered the part, which should be here in a few days. I also checked the EBP valve which was pretty clogged up with soot (not completely stopped up but probably about 75%) so I'm going to go ahead and replace that and clean the tube. I have the grey CPS in there now. Should I go ahead and replace that with the new black one? My understanding is that the black one will probably run better but may leave me stranded at some point. Is that right?
Another thing is that I have the water pump off and the coolant system drained. I am waiting for a few parts (mainly the EBP valve and the new t-stat housing) that I want to replace before putting the new water pump back on. Reckon the internals of the coolant system will rust or otherwise corrode while it sits 'open' for a few days?
Thanks!

Not so sure the black one is more prone to fail. Many have reported better performance with the black (C93?)one over the grey. Which ever you run, make sure to have a spare just in case.
I don't think a few days on the coolant system will hurt. You should consider replacing the hoses. The top, around the belt hose is worth it, then perform a coolant flush. I don't have the link handy right now, but search coolant flush while waiting on parts. It would be a good idea to up-grade the anti-freeze to some form of extended life coolant. Good luck.
