4x4 header

I'm wondering if headers made for the later 4x4 trucks, 66 F100 and later F100/F250 4x4, would work on a 65 F100 4x4? It seams to me that the early style 4x4, 65 like mine, with the front engine mount would give more room for headers than the later side engine mount style. Assuming the front frame area is the same width and there is no side engine mounts to contend with a 67 F100 4x4 header would work just fine in my 65 F100. These trucks used the same trannys didn't they? I know the bell housing mounts verses transsmition mounts are different but shouldn't that be up higher that the header would be running?

My 65 has very rusty headers now and I'd like to replace them but can't seem to find a set.

I beleive the problem will be the steering box. The headers won't clear it on your 65 and the 66 and later has the steering box located at the front of the frame.

Good point I hadn't thought about the steering gear...

My 65 has a 352. It's tired though and I'd like to go 390 at some point but those are pretty interchangeable.

model number? I looked into these, and the price tag is NOT for the faint of heart, or wallet lol. I've heard good things though.

Go big or go home. These are worth every penny. I bolted them on with a set of copper exhaust manifold gaskets and have never had a leak even after removing to replace the starter.

Don't they advertise these as not needing any gasket at all? Can't see how that would last long but here it is off their page...

GENERAL NOTES:

The Patented Leak-Free Design that Sanderson Headers offer you is the only leak-free flange design on the market ... Do Not Attempt To Use Flange Gaskets! The raised flange on the Sanderson Headers will buckle the gasket during tightening and actually cause a leak!

Guess sanderson is what im going to go with!! I do need to call them and see if they will work on a 64 4x4 with a 352 swapped in. I plan on changing my starter over to the powermaster mini starter at the same time. I'll get one of the thermal blankets for that starter also just to protect the investment.

I didn't have the patience for that so I grabbed a set of copper gaskets off the wall and haven't looked back since.

I doubt they will be much help to you. They didn't know if they would fit my '66 4X4 with a factory FE...

As for the starter, probably a good idea, but I just run a NAPA one with lifetime warranty and swap it out every now and then.

Its the unbolting of the manifold just to get to the starter that im not keen on having to deal with even every so often! lol

Anyone run a set of these? Headman 89120? They are advertised to fit the 66 F250 4x4 so I'm pretty sure they would work on my 65 F100 4x4.

1/4" flange = exhaust leaks.

Whats your thoughts on these?
https://www.summitracing.com/parts/hed-89830/overview/

Only available for the 75-75 F250 and 350 4wd so probably not compatible. And price wise the Sandersons are pretty comparable. Just wondering why it would be limited to those two years.
