engine startup

before I start stacking body parts on the frame I wanted to run the engine and check for problems first.

did the initial run in two years ago when it was built... everything worked well.

Had a few issues... radiator leak for one but got all straightened out...
so last week I filled all the fluids, tried to get my distributor in the right place (I had taken it out. Then gave her a try... fired off but backfired thru exhaust... evidently dist was off... kept pranking around with it finding tdc on #1 ...pulling dist to move rotor... which pulled the oil pump shaft out of pump... spent a couple hours getting that back in the hole... and finally we got it makin noise.

small problems with float settings on carb...fuel pump pressure a little wonky (regulator on the way) gotta add fuel filter and fix a leaking valve cover gasket... little stuff... gonna fix all that then go again and get timing set correctly and do a little adjusting on the carb...

engine sounds strong and the straight pipes get your ears ringing with it parked in the shop...... gets you all giddy

anxious now to get everything buttoned up and start stacking up body parts...I'm not over the hill (well, I am) but I can see the sun shining over the hill... another chip... if I can figure it out I'll post a video full of noise

So close

John,

You must be having trouble sleeping through the night, knowing that you are this close to getting the truck on the road.

Will you be able to work on assembly all winter, so you will be ready to cruise in the Spring ?

S-L-O-W-L-Y we go, but we do go. Sounds like you're closer to a test drive every post John. But I know Crusin the Coast will put a damper on your progress.

Artscott will be representing Missouri I'm afraid. With the wife's health issues I can't be far from home. UNLESS the wife feels good enough to go see family in New Orleans.

That's awesome news John!!!

Seems like the normal little engine firing type issues. I'm glad it wasn't anything major.
