I 've got a 2 week old F350 Lariat and front window tint is on my list of things to get done. I didn't know about the ceramic options that keep heat out. I am in the DFW area so heat is one of my main concerns. Does it really work and is it pricey $$$?
Was just going to get my front's done to legal limit and call it good but if ceramic really does work I would consider doing it all.
I put 20% around the truck except for windshield. My last truck I put 20% on two front sides and regretted not putting something on the the backs because you could feel the heat coming in.
Do any of you who live in really hot areas, end up tinting the sunroof? That huge sunroof must transmit some heat even with the sun shade in place.
I'm in Northwest Houston - and yes i put the same 15% i used on all the doors and back glass on the sunroof too.
I still kept the factory sun shade closed (which made a huge diff even w/ the tint).

I live in Georgia, it gets up to 100 degrees fairly often here in the summer. I've had sunroofs on all my vehicles but have never tinted any of them. With the visor open, the heat will come through when the sun is high. If you close the shade, I have never noticed it. Most good window tinters will tell you to never tint you sunroof. I have never understood why, but they say the tint can get messed up easily if you open the roof. Considering you can open your windows and not have a problem on the doors, this concept has never made since to me but just sharing what I've been told.

been tinting our vehicle sunroofs for years - and friend of mine have done it even longer....all w/out problems.
I suspect some tinters don't want to tint some moon roofs cause 1) its not as easy as side glass and 2) the paint/stippling can be a challenge.
I can tell you - just my experience this past summer - even WITH the tinted moonroof, if I left the shade open (in a parking lot), I regretted it and it took a LOT longer for the (weak) air conditioner to cool down the truck.
tint on a moonroof - respective of opening and closing - is no different than any other (opening/closing) window....Ive opened my roof glass a dozen or so times (now that its cooler here in Texas) and have not had any issues.

I assumed it was the tinters not wanting to do it. Maybe they'd be more willing on these huge moonroofs in the Super Duty's. I think they try to shy away from doing regular sunroofs because they're so small they can't charge much for the installation that they think is a pain in the butt. Oh well...
even in texas the law requires 25% light transmission or greater...thats lighter than the factory rear tint.
i got sick of being hot, blinded and legal - everyone i see around here has dark windows - i finally went w/ 15% (transmission) - I've got 5% on my wife miata - and no one ever bothers me (not even the inspection station...i just roll the windows down and no one says a word).
just had some light curb/rash fixed on the wheels....the wife has always wanted black wheels so i had them powder coated black when they resolved the curbing/rash
