Has anyone tried to get the dealer to upgrade the computer system to read the new gallon volume to a new tank upgrade like transfer flow? ie, 34 gal to read 60 gal so the Distance to Empty will read correctly?

I did the research and unfortunately, Ford has not provided the dealers with necessary software/procedure to make the change. When I bought my 2011 F250 in June 2010, it was hit or miss between dealers whether or not they knew how to make the change. It was here in the FTE forum that I obtained the steps needed for the technician to make the change and gave it to my dealer.
I purchased my 55 gallon Titan tank from a Ford dealership in American Fork, Utah, who told me the dealers were unable to make the update at this time. Perhaps the increase can be done using using a third party program like FORscan.

Now after four hours with service and several calls to the factory, the new 2017 SD’s can only be programmed for the tank volumes that ford installs! Bummer. Now when the gage shows empty I should have 7 to12 gallons in the reserve level below the gage tower. Guess I will note the mileage when the gage says we are empty then drive till it really dies since there is a restart process when it runs dry, need a spare 5 gal of diesel to limp to a station and verify the real fuel tank volume. I am stil not sure I believe them. Rangermc 2017 F-250 6.L Lariat CC.

Thanks for the data re ForScan code programing, I will follow up after I get the real volume used at the DTE=0 mark. The gage was not made for the tank depth.

Does the Titan tank sit lower that the factory tank. And do they put a plate back underneath to protect?
I have a 164" WB Super Cab w/8' box. I researched Titan and Transfer Flow extensively prior to our AK trip. Transfer Flow customer service argued with me and stated flatly that I had a 48 gallon tank and not a 34 g tank from the factory. Their refusal to even listen eliminated them from any purchase, ever. Transfer Flow service was extremely helpful, but in the end they indicated not enough demand for the Super Cab. Soooooo, on our way home from AK we routed through Chico, CA and the Transfer Flow manufacturing facility. Most gracious and informative people ever. They put the truck on the lift (they do installations as well) and determined, as I had thought, there was enough room and fit for the 60 gallon tank. Three hours later we were on the road. Transfer flow is a few gallons bigger than the Titan and also made of heavy aluminized steel rather than plastic. Plus made in America. Only downside was the 112 degree heat and smoke filled air due to the wildfires. I love the much increased range and the ability to fuel at locations where the price is cheaper without having the worry of making it to the next stop.
Rob,
I have a super cab 8' bed dually on order. Is the 60 gallon tank installed in place of the existing tank, or does it go in the bed?
For those that might be interested in some pictures of the 60 gallon replacement tank, I posted some along with information on my experience at Transfer Flow in a thread I started this summer.
Since my post in this thread on 10-18, I have run the 55 gal Titan tank down to what the fuel gauge says is nearly empty - about 15 miles remaining. In each case, I refilled up to the filler neck and when it says I'm about out of fuel, I have about 5 gals in the tank. Pretty much what I had in my 34 gallon OEM Ford tank when it said I was empty. I'm not concerned now about having a recalibration to the 55 gal tank. Thought this might be helpful to others.

FORSCAN does it, I did mine and it works perfectly. 900+ Miles DTE when I fill up.
I just had the Transferflow 60 gal installed in my 2017, CCSB. Chad told me the DTE wouldn't work as I was picking up my truck so I didn't have time to sort it out prior to spending $1600, thinking the dealer could do it. After back-and-forth with the dealer, they admitted they can't change the DTE (including a smart *** "if you wanted the DTE to work, you shouldn't have changed the tank!). So, now I'm trying to understand the FORScan process and can't find the specifics for the 60 gal tank (forget that I've never even seen FORSCan app and don't use a windows machine). Having had a Transferflow tank on my previous truck, this was a must have upgrade and well worth going to Chico to have it installed.
Now, I'm stuck on the DTE solution and the search process goes in a circle for previous year SDs or generalized FORScan info. If someone has done this same upgrade on a 2017 and knows what the FORSCan process is for the 60 gal tank, can you post that here or point me to where it is, please? I "think" the FORSCAN code should be "8 DF" but I'm guessing.
