Coolant leak, video

Hello,

I just picked this excursion up and it did great for me, but on a recent trip it overheated, filled the coolant and made it to my destination. On the way back I had to do the same thing. 3 gallons! Parked the vehicle and didn't drive it for a couple weeks. Today I decided to give it chance. Did fine, but after It was in the parking spot I noticed coolant on the ground, so I popped the hood and saw it leaking from the passenger side of the engine. I am hoping you guys can let me know what part this is, as it looks relatively simple to fix. Any help is appreciated!

Also have a picture of it if you can't view the video. If you look right above the engine oil fill cap you can see a drop of coolant coming out of the hard black plastic piece.

It always helps to let us know the pedigree of your Excursion, but based on the pic you posted, it's a pretty sure bet you have a 6.0L PSD.

Looks like your heater core line is leaking, if I'm looking at the pic correctly.

You are missing the vacuum line which should be attached to the nipple on the valve just to the right of your suspected leaking point. That valve, blocks coolant flow to your heater core when you have the A/C on MAX, since having hot coolant flowing through reduces the amount of cold air your A/C will generate.
It should be a gray vacuum line with a black 1/2" end on it that slips on. The vacuum leak could also effect which vent is selected and your auto-locking hubs - if you have 4x4.

Sure looks like the heating hose or fitting

Since this is a new-to-you truck I would suggest replacing the coolant bottle cap. Get an aftermarket (Stant) and it's only about $5.
The factory caps have a history of not holding pressure as they were designed to do.

But yes it appears to be your heater core line.

I removed that valve and put a ball valve in it's place to make damn sure it's shut. I only need my heater about 5 weeks a year so I can just open it when it gets cold enough. I also put one on the line under the degas bottle on the driver's side to block off coolant flow from the heater core.
