94 F250 idi

Alright guys, it's been awhile since I've been on here. I've hit a problem with my 95 half ton. The trans went out. It's just puking fluid out the front and the Mennonite guy that is my mechanic said we could replace the seal and everything, but usually there's a bigger problem that shows up again. That's $600. Then a new (reman?) Jasper trans installed is $3100. Truck isn't worth that so we're looking for something new.

My question is this. What's a 94 F250 idi, 67,000 miles on the digit odometer, auto, single cab 4x4 really worth? I know people want the PowerStroke more and they're usually worth more because of that.

9 times out of 10,replacing the front seal is all you need.If the bushing has walked, then you can either replace it too,or if you want to make it easier, just get a reman trans pump and swap the whole works out for well under $200 and done.
So I wouldn't just give up on the truck, simply due to a $5-10 seal.

That's some low miles on an IDI truck.'93 and '94 had a factory turbo option or one could of been added. Is it a turbo? Is it solid? What state is it in? Arkansas? If so,it should be pretty much rust free.Does it look like a brand new,94 that just rolled off the showroom floor,or due to it's age,it's all dented up and worked hard?
If it is,what I think it is,I can see 5-7k easy enough due to the low miles and being rust free.

That said,if you don't need the HD truck, stay in your F150.They are sooooooo much cheaper to run and they offer a much better ride than the HD's.

A remain pump might fix the issue. we have had problems with the trans slipping every now and then. I was on my way to my sister - in - laws last saturday and we heard a grinding coming from the trans, but only for a few seconds and then it would go away. It only happened about 4-5 times and then it stopped and ran fine, then we were going up Crystal Mountain on AR HWY 21 south of Berryville and looked behind and it was smoking bad, pulled over and it was just puking trans fluid on the ground. It needs a complete rebuild really.

As for the F250, it seems to have some rust over the rear wheels, most of them do. It looks like it was an farm truck that just never got used much off the farm. The tailgate looks a little beat up, but my 150 is the same color so I could get that tailgate and put on it.

Here's the Odometer...

I assume it's worth the $2500 he's asking for.

I was just going to say, that one is perhaps still worth 3k in that shape, due to the low miles. If he's asking $2,500 for her,try and not beat him up too bad on the price, cus he's being fair.
I see a lot of,like new, older trucks down that way,so I was thinking it might of been one of those.Still,a good old farm truck, priced right, can be every bit as reliable.

Yeah, I figured it was a pretty fair price. KBB, for what it's worth, says in fair it's worth 4500. I wouldn't feel bad about paying 2500.

As a side note, The guy said it gets 19 mpg. I don't know if a NA will get that...
