What year is your vehicle? One of the main problems in serious rust at an early age is that the paint from the factory flakes, and water gets under it and has a hard time drying, so it sits there and eats the metal. I just broke a shackle because of rust and mine is just a 95. I have no rust problems now because I cleaned it all up and put Miracle Paint from Bill Hirsch Automotive all over the body and frame. It is a PERMANENT cure for rust when applied properly. My truck is 95% rust proof. Watch out for the wheel wells and the bottom of the tailgate on broncos. On the frame, Ford puts a kind of weird paint on, and after years it just sticks dirt to it. I thought I had some surface rust on the rear end of mine but when I put the wire brush to it, it blew right off. I didn't have a rust problem but i figured it would be easier to prevent it now then fix it later. Go to hirschauto.com for more info. It is the only paint that is not affected by anything. DOT 3 brake fluid is a paint's worst enemy, but does nothing to this paint, it's awesome.
