you can get a repair manual for about $15 that shows all the codes. there's codes for all kind of stuff, besides just emssions related. Rememeber, the computer gets info from many sources, air temp, water temp, oxygen ratio in the exhaust, vacuum, throttle position, camshaft position, air pump/diverter valve, even if you have auto trans. to give the engine the best fuel ratio for optimum performance/mileage under all conditions. there are prob. hundreds of codes that can trigger the lite to come on. If the computer doesn't recieve input from each device/sensor, it will make the lite come on. Sometimes it doesn't hurt anything as long as the engine is running good and decent mileage. As the other person mentioned, lots of times its just emssions related. What would we do without computers????
