Front Locker Saves the Day! real long but entertaining

Man o Man did i get myself in trouble!... well heres the story.. i strictly use my truck for towing the toys to the sand dunes, hunting and fishing..... i dont go gunning for trouble(mud etc).. but this weekend i was off to take the wife and dog to the local fishing spot and we drive out through this field everytime near the lake.. well the lake was up about 10' more than usuall from much rain.. but it did not look to bad on the way out...Well the underground level of water was also up!! and im usually traveling about 25mph down this road through the field when i was approaching the low spot.. it looked a little wet but i didnt bat an eye.. well the wet looking spot was about 300' long but the road is hard packed, no prob... well as soon as the truck went into the wet area... it sunk like a rock!! with as much momentum as i had i figured id be better sailin through than backing up so i floored it.. The Auburn Rear end threw tons of clay mud flying but the front end just mushed down in mud until about 3/4 up the wheel..... i let off the gas and put it in park and felt horrible.. just got this 7000lb moster in over its head... i opened the door and steeped out on ground that easily held me.. but the truck was almost into the frame(10" lift!)...... the ruts were goo-y mud but the road all around was fine....Well i scooped some mud out of the wheels and locked the hubs.... Now ive been stuck before in my previous 79 F250... and when it looks like this you need 3 fords or 9 chevies to pull her out... well i got in, tried not to let the wife notice the stress cause i figured we'd be walking..i engauged the manual 4x4, The new Richmond locker up front went to town..1st gear 4x4 high, and mashed it.. both front wheels turning up front just dragged the rest of the truck the next 100' to the hard packed.. It was amazing.........I could not have paid enough for that front locker.. Thanks powertrax!

I bet you had couple cold ones after that !

The wife didn't even have to get her feet dirty !

Now how long did it take to clean all that mud off ?

Did you catch any fish ?

love it when they work as advertized !!!!!

Nice job! jetjock

I understand completely....although I didn't have any 4x4 when I got stuck. went to go fishing in a spot we had been before got out in this sand and sunk down all 4 wheels to the frame (in a 95 F150 Reg Cab) we dug and dug it took us about 5 hours to get out. during the process a Ford 4x4 got stuck trying to pull us out, and a little nissan pickup. nobody else could bring their vehicle within 15 - 20 feet of us...finally we had about 10 guys on the front of the truck pushing as I had it in reverse....when it got to about 35 mph we finally got some movement out. NEVER EVER been stuck like that before and without some prior planning, hope to never be stuck like that again. Luckily it was a busy day at the lake and several others decided to come that way too...otherwise I'd problaby still be there
