So the shop called and said the #5 and #7 injectors are bad. He doesn't know what injectors are in it as it has been bulletproofed. So do I buy 2 OEM injectors and see what happens? Do I buy a matching set of 8 new injectors? Is there an upgrade I can do right now to save some money later?
He also said the HPOP was starting to go. Apparently it leaks down back into the oil pan when it sits.
Since they are both on the same side, I would just do all 4 with OEM replacements and call it a day.....It would suck to do #5 & #7 and 2 weeks later #3 or #1 goes bad....Shouldn't hardly change the labor time either doing all 4 since your literally right there already.

The HPOP very rarely goes bad on the 05-07 motors. Frequently the STC fitting from the pump to the motor goes bad. If you have a leak down it's probably the oil filter housing not retaining oil, which is usually from the oil drainback valve in the bottom or aftermarket filter/cap, which I think you've already addressed.
AFA the injectors go, unless you can get hold of the previous owner of the truck to inquire, that's a hard question.
Well what should I be looking at for "performance" injectors? I can't get ahold of the previous owner so I'm afraid of putting OEM in there and the other bank have higher flow rate.
After looking at all the options would I really get 3k worth of enjoyment from the 90hp injectors? Is it worth replacing all 8 with the upgraded injectors or should I just buy 2 OEM and hope more don't go out?
So Ed has a backlog of calls to return... I was told it would be about a week before he could call me back so I got on the list. After some reading (and talking to Karen from FICMREPAIR) I think I'm going to go with the Warren injectors.
My questions are about the rebuild I should choose though. Part of me says "Go all in you fool!" but the part of me that listens to my wife says "You've already dropped about 2k into this thing and you should go with the less expensive ones!"
Here's the list of options:
Oem– Reconditioned Oem spool valve with tested used wires 6 month warranty.
New– New WDI spool valve with tested used wires 1 year warranty (an extra $200)
Solenoids– New Oem quality wires with reconditioned Oem spool valve 1 year warranty (an extra $400)
Premium– New spool valves, Solenoids, plugs, plunger springs and poppet springs 18 month warranty (an extra $600)
Well look at it this way. The top level is looking to still be less than the other guys.
Must be getting tired I have to edit this 3 times before I even hit the post button.
If the turbo can't keep up, large injectors are a waste of money. If you buy OEM, buy Ford remans... period! Don't waste your money on reconditioned spool valves either.
