Hey guys, I've got an '85 F150 with the inline 6, and it's carburated. I'm wondering how feasible it would be to find a junkyard engine with fuel injection and pull the head with all the electrical components and swap it over? Could it really be that simple, or is there something that I'm missing? Thanks in advance for the help!
No its not that simple.
You need all the wiring & relays, computer, sensors, fuel tank with pumps and hoses & lines and that is just off the top of my head.

Ya as Dave said it is real job to do that swap. And the gains short of cold weather driveabilty during warm up are not that big.
The EFI 300's had more than few issues also the Carbureted engines were much more reliable.
And, if you're going to go to that trouble, find a '96 when they went to mass air. You'd probably be best to find a cheap beater '96 - or whatever efi truck - so you have everything, including the OD trans.
I've had both. As Matthewq4b said you wont see any gain's going EFI. The carb'd 300's properly tuned will out run the EFI 300's without all the electrical crap getting in the way.
