Chasing an electrical bug

Hi folks. I am having an electrical issue maybe someone can help with. I have a '97 Lariat Scab 4.6. The fog lights, power mirrors, and driver's side power lock button do not work. The shop replaced the multifunction switch but the problem persists. I did find a bundle under the hood with frayed grn/org and black wires. I can't seem to trace out the other end. Per the Chilton's manual the grn/org is the headlight circuit, but high/low beams and DRLs work great.

I will add: the truck had water and mold damage in the cab. I wonder if there is a phantom bug now...

Remove the driver side kick panel and look for the common harness ground point.
God luck.

Yow!

Somehow, your truck has escaped having the very important cruise control pressure switch recall done on it! I don't see the fused added harness in series with the switch on the front of the master cylinder, only the original factory harness directly plugged-in.

Whether you use the cruise control or not, the danger is always there 24/7.

Keep wieners and stick handy for putting the flames to good use!

Torky2, thanks for pointing that out! I'll have to call the dealer and ask them when (not if) they can take care of that for me.

Solved - and I feel like a dummy.

Father-in-law is a mechanic and visiting for a week. He identified the following:
- frayed wires are the under hood light
- 2x missing/3x wrong fuses
- a missing relay
- 3x burned out bulbs

This is all low-hanging fruit and I'm swallowing my pride to share. First thing I should have done when I got the truck was gone through the fuse box :/ At any rate, I now have a great running truck with ZERO electrical problems. Score!
