transmission temperature safe range

I have a 2011 Ford Escape that I will be towing behind my RV. What temps would I see as "safe" range reading with a infrared thermometer?

Not sure what kind of RV you're dealing with, but if the Ford Escape if within the tow limits if your RV, there shouldn't be a problem. The RV should have trans aux cooler as required to fulfill the limits stated.

Maybe use tow/haul mode if in hilly area.

2011 Ford Escape

I'm not concerned about my RV. My concern is for the transmission fluid temperature in the 2011 Ford Escape toad. Is there an industry standard for safe range of fluid temperature?

Starting on page 203 of the 2011 Ford Escape owner's manual is all the info pertaining towing behind an rv.

There is no industry standard. Ford has a standard, though, as I assume each manufacturer does.

You can run the trans as high as 220°F all day long and not have a problem. You can go as high as 250°F for no more than a half hour at a time.
