I just started recently getting this code on my '02 F150 with the 5.4. It only started doing this since the temperature started cooling off. The light, next to the oil pressure gauge comes on only at initial start up. Once the motor warms up, it goes off. I'm due for an oil change, which I'm getting today. Any other suggestions?

Cylinder head temperature sensor circuit intermittently going open.
The sensor and its cable plug is under the middle driver side intake manifold into the head.
Good luck.

Here's an update. Had the oil changed yesterday. Drove the truck for the first time this evening since the oil change. Initial start up, truck ran like it had a miss. Drove 10 miles into town. Truck ran rough most of the way, then smoothed out. The idiot light next to the oil pressure gauge came on for about 10 seconds. I also noticed the temp gauge was not reading anything. Temp gauge started reading normal, and the light next to oil pressure gauge when out. Upon heading back home, truck would intermittently act like it had a miss. Temperature gauge would fluctuate between just below half and down to reading nothing.
CEL never came on.

I'm at a loss

Just thought of something else. About a month ago, the temp got on the high side because I was low on coolant. I added the gold coolant. Upon putting the empty jug in the bed of the truck, I found an empty coolant jug that had the green coolant. I had accidentally mixed coolants. I meant to do a coolant flush when I got home but forgot about it. Could mixing the coolants have anything to do with it?

That is the CHT = Cylinder Head Temp sensor (**** to get to the sensor under the intake right hand side) Remove the alternator and I want to say it is a 17mm head or an 18mm head to get it out. You can take it out without removing the intake and it has a jumper plugin that disconnects from the sensor and the one facing the engine on the right top front of the driver's side head.
