I think the Badger is still coal fired. The conversion is in the works, but it hasn't happened yet. I drove up to the ship, but someone from the Ferry actually drove my truck on board and off. Most of the drivers appeared to be college age kids. Someone older drove mine, however. I believe they would have let me drive my own truck if I had asked to do so.
We have time to think through the logistics involved for using the ferry services available to us. Meeting up in Muskegon would be one possible solution. I have no real desire to get tangled up in Milwaukee traffic, so I would prefer the Manitowoc/Luddington Ferry option. If you decide you want to go around Chicago, we could meet somewhere in Indiana.

Jim and Bob, if you want to avoid Interstate 80 next year if you come through northern Ohio, you could get route 6 near Erie to come east but you'll have to get further south at some point perhaps through a town called Renovo on Route 120. Before that you mentioned check out the Kinzua State Park. Here is a very high railroad tressels that got blown down by a tornado.

This conversation came up at TS, but for those that haven't seen it, I'm pretty sure everyone here at FTE would enjoy the PBS/Ken Burns documentary: "Horatio's Drive: America's First Road Trip".
Netflix has the DVD to rent, or you can stream it on Youtube for $5. Check your local channels there may be more options for viewing.

You won't be disappointed!

This post is for those who attended TRUCKSTOCK 2017,in Kentucky and were there when we received word of the passing of Linda's mom on Friday morning. I want to express the feeling when we arrived at the church Thursday afternoon for the viewing and everyone was talking about this family who had sent this BEAUTIFUL and very large planter but no one had ever heard of THE TRUCKSTOCK FAMILY which was written on the card. Thanks to each one of you for the kindness shown to Linda and myself, Nadine or ( MOM ) lived 91 long years in a very uncertain world but her love for God was her main force in life, if you were lucky enough to meet her you would have loved her too. Again, thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your kindness. Doc talked last week about the first TRUCKSTOCK and mentioned something about inviting 50 some people he had only talked to on this forum to come to their home for a weekend ( WHAT WAS HE THINKING ). I can tell you that they are everyday people from all walks of life and each has a heart of GOLD, God bless everyone of you, Linda and Garry. We love you guys and gals. A very special to Eva and Sharon for stepping up and doing it for the guys.

Then on Thursday morning I decided , to go and see my friends . I am glad I did . It was another wonderful weekend , with a great bunch .
