Altman Latch installation

I am in the process of installing another set of Altman latches in a 54 F100 and doing the custom metal work on the door jamb to make the striker pin mounting plate. See pics...

I do a lot of business with Direct Sheetmetal and they have offered to make these door jamb plates and internal floating nut plates (to mount the striker pins). Up til now I have bought bent metal from them and done all the remaining fabrication myself. I know that there have been a number of threads on this topic, so for all those who would like to have this custom door jamb treatment, how many would want to buy these kits ready to weld in place? I am not going into business selling these kits but I am sure that Direct Sheetmetal will soon have them in their catalog. Maybe Midfifty or Trique Manufacturing will add them to their catalog as well, I just thought that I would see how much interest there was from the FTE community. I am having 5 sets made right now and I do not have a price yet, sorry.

The last pic shows the plate after welding and mounting of the striker pin.

I have all the stuff to make them at work, but if the price is right, it would be worth it to buy them instead.

I would be interested in a kit. I have one bear claw latch installed in a door and was in process of bending metal for the post.

So Charlie, Can I buy these now?

I would be a player even if I have to assemble them myself. I just need them in the next few months.

I have 5 sets being made now. I have an immediate need for just three. They will be ready next week so I could part with a set or two at that time. Once I have them in hand and make sure they are made to my dimensions I will find out how much Direct Sheetmatal will sell them for and what other retailers may be interested in carrying them.

OK,

Well if you could part with one, let me know. The latches and those plates are my next step/purchase in this cab repair.

1950 application

I would be interested if Altman had a kit for the 48-50 series of F1's
My latches are fine but the "bear claw" would offer more security.

I saw the Altman latches at So-Cal Arizona last week when I was in Phoenix. These are very nice. I'm planning to install them in my 48. All I need are the door handle regulators. They are a quality bear claw latch. I saw the kit at So-Cal and it is top notch stuff.

Let's see, I installed sets on my 56 F100 and my 40 Ford coupe (different mounting system), a 54 F100, a 53 F100, a 55 F100, and sold a set to clintonvillian. I think that I still have some in a box here someplace. Directsheetmetal made up the last kits for me. Here is what the Altman latch looks like in my latest project...

I'll dig through the boxes and see if I can find what I have left.
