Hello everyone. 2000 f350 srw crew cab long bed 218,500 (I think original trans). I haven't posted in a while since the truck has been pretty rock solid until now. The shifting has been a little off all of a sudden. First to second seems fine. Second to third seems to drag out into a higher rpm range then it should and when it finally does shift, it's not real clean. It seems to slip in and the rons don't just drop back down, they kind of get hung up before eventually dropping down for the next shift. Third to fourth seems fine also. No major hard shift except for one time that I was merging onto a highway with a grade and I had to get on it a little and then the 2-3 shift was hard and seemed to have a little clunk to it. I checked the fluid and it seemed alright in that it was right on the "H" mark when hot in park engine running with no apparent burning smell. The trans temp is always appropriate and never more then 100* over ambient. Usually it is a good bit less. I haven't changed the trans fluid in the 4yrs that I've owned the truck. I guess my questions would be , should I flush and refill? Is there anything else that I should try? Or should I consider myself lucky that I got 218K and get it to a trans shop asap? You should see if there are any codes stored in the PCM. The places that read codes free CANNOT read these codes. You need either a good independent shop or a Ford dealer.
