Power Steering Hose Fitting Size ???
I need to know the thread size and proper fitting style/name of the flare fitting that screws into the steering gearbox; is it a standard size; is it SAE or Metric; is it something weird?
Better yet, I need a 06 JIC male adapter that will fit that hole.
Thanks for reading and all help is appreciated.

I believe you will need a 3/8" o-ring type fitting for your power steering gear box.

I believe you will need a 3/8" o-ring type fitting for your power steering gear box.
Will this O-ring seal be underneath the threads and seal inside the gearbox, or will it be above/around the threads and seal against the flat outer surface?
Your link led me to find these fittings as well that will allow me to make the hose myself:

When the hose is installed the metal part fits inside it and the ring sits on top. When you tighten the fitting down the fitting pushes on the metal part of the hose pinching the ring between the metal hose and the seat of what ever it fits into.

The fitting you provided a link to is a 90* 6-AN fitting. It won't work with your power steering gear box.
You can also eliminate the need for a fitting by fabricating a hose barb from your old power steering pressure hose. It would look like this:

Just replace the o-ring on the fitting and rent a tubing flaring kit from the auto parts store.
The P/S pressure hose has a straight tube with an O-Ring on the pump end, connects to the pump w/a qwik connect fitting.
There are TWO possible O-Rings and qwik connect fittings:
388748-S .. 1/4" O-Ring - Use with 5/16" qwik connect fitting.
388749-S .. 5/16" O-Ring - Use with 3/8" qwik connect fitting.

Oh, ok.

JIC or AN hoses should work just fine for a power steering pressure hose. To eliminate the need for a hose clamp and barb off of the power steering gear just use the adapters like you planned.

Fitting is 5/16 inverted flare.
Thread size is 1/2 x 20.
This should screw straight into my steering gearbox.
Reason #1 is superior hose, superior fittings, and much easier installation with JIC
Reason #2 is I have not as yet been able to find a stock replacement for a 1985 F-350 with 6BT Cummins engine.
A double-piston vacuum pump is directly attached to the timing gear cover and the P/S pump is attached to the vacuum pump; all way down low on the driver's side, just inches from the steering gear.
Back in 2006, I took the Cummins pump fitting and the Ford steering-gear fitting to the local hose shop and the guy took the two and made one.
Alas, all I can get now is that blank deer-in-the-headlights look and no ambitious help.
This is all probably to my benefit, as this braided stainless JIC set-up is going to be much better and way easier to install; no more fighting fine threads on stiff hoses in tight confines; JIC is wonderful ! ! !
