Interior plastic compatability

I have a 1985 F150 standard cab, the plastic panels that cover the seat belt mechanisms are missing. What years used the same panels? Will a pair from a 90-96 standard cab work?

I don't know if the 90-96 ones will work or not but can tell you how the 81's fit as I just removed them from my parts truck to use in mine.

That are held on with 1 Phillips screw between the belt & door opening. The plastic has a location pin at the top that fits in the hole above the belt.
At the bottom there is one of them plastic barbed pins that fits in a hole on the plastic and pushes in to a hole on the body below the belt.

With that info you might be able to see if the later years will fit. I may have another set from my project but don't know off hand what bin of parts they might be in.

Do they look something like this? I have two tan ones which were removed from a mid-80's truck. From what I remember, they attach with one centrally located screw. The attached photo has 3 holes, but I believe someone has modified these, probably because the center screw was stripped? The ones I have are in decent shape [no cracks], but will need painting to match your interior.

This is a photo found on eBay, where they are listed for sale.

The originals went from the floor to the headliner; most of the the panels were rotten away and missing and then the remainder literally crumbled on removal.

Mine [1986 F150] are as you have just described... there were "Custom" trucks which had the covers like the photo I copied. Sorry I could not help you. The junk yards will be your best bet.

Mine both 81's custom & Ranger are just like the picture, just cover the belt unit.
Didn't know they had any from floor on up?

Trucks that had a headliner had the full plastic liners inside that ran up the B pillar and they incorporated the seat belt stuff into them, these were the cushy interiors. The smaller, standalone variants were used when just the bare interior was ordered.

The plastic covers were only furnished with the complete seat belt on Regular Cabs.

But the seat belt covers were available separately on Super & Crew Cabs.

1984/86 seat belts interchange. 1980/83 and 1987 and later have different part numbers.

You are actually missing quite a few pieces.

It appears that you have a "Lariat" model. I can tell by the velour seat fabric and the matching fabric insert in the door panels. Also note the rectangular slots above the rear window and above the door.

- The rectangular slots above the rear window are there because a metal trim piece snaps in place there to hold the cloth headliner in place at the back. Yours is missing.

- Your headliner is completely missing.

- Another metal trim piece screws under the rear window to connect to plastic side panels that cover the seat belt retractors on either side. Yours is missing.

- This trim piece also holds a section of carpet, which covers the back of the cab from under the rear window to the floor. Yours is missing.

- Above the door, you will see more rectangular slots. A short piece of plastic snaps in place there on either side to hold the headliner in place on the sides. Yours is missing.

- The pieces that go around the seat belt retractor is one solid piece of plastic that screws in and covers the sides of the rear window and the area from the top of the cab to the floor. These also hold the back corners of the headliner in place. Yours is missing.

Lesser models didn't have all of this trim, the cloth headliner, nor the slots. They would leave all that metal exposed and simply have the small seat belt retractor covers that 1986F150six posted.

The trim pieces you need will come from a 1980 - 1986 Lariat model. The interior trim on the 1987 - 1991 and 1992 - 1996 models are a bit different. I don't think you will find these trim pieces new anymore. Your best bet is to find them in a junkyard. You will need the trim pieces with the clips.

You are correct; Lariet Explorer

I have all of the metal trim pieces and the headliner , it was removed because it needs to be stripped and new material glued on.
