Cell Phone

I just got a v551 moto flip phone and have been looking for a mount. Then I discovered that if you have a belt clip with your phone, you can attach it to your air vent right next to your steering wheel. The vent is plenty big for the clip to fit snugly in place. It just looks like it is meant to be there.

Just thought I would share.

Hi, I mounted a spare belt clip to the 'coin holder' in the dash. I worry about the heat/cold from the vents. The phones don't like that very much. Fortunatly the clip allows you to tip the phone to the side, away from the vent.

How did you "mount" the belt clip to the coin holder?

Hi yobdab, not too hard. I drilled a center hole' 1/8 inch, in the coin holder. It just pops out. and used a black allen screw about an inch long, with a couple of nuts on the back for locking it in place. I had to drill a matching hole in the back of the plastic belt clip, then do some fine tuning (bending the back piece) till it looked right. I'll post a couple pictures of it in the forum. Ten-twenty minute job, but darned if it isn't handy.
The phone likes to slip from my pocket onto the floor by the door. Now it doesn't. Plus, it makes it easier to answer when driving. No, I don't advocate talking on the phone while driving, but in real life, it happens sometimes.
