Hurricane Irma Prep

Good Evening,

Currently sitting in North Florida and watching Irma appear to be on track to turn up the state. I don't anticipate it will be too bad by the time it gets my way, however I am concerned more about flying debris hitting my truck, etc., since where I live there is no place to park this is not surrounded by trees and the elements.

However, there is a very sturdy parking garage a few blocks away with areas where concrete slabs cover all the sides, only issue is, I don't fit. I have made it into the garage, with about a 1/4 inch to spare, only to make it 20ft and have to return out the entrance as I wouldn't clear the exit, however I think an inch lower and I would make it anywhere in the garage.

My question is, I was thinking if I lowered the psi in my tires and removed the covers on the clearance lights, I may get enough to get me to a corner spot with some protection.

Will this work? What is the lowest psi that I could run my truck at for a maximum of 500ft to make this work? Would I have to refill the tires or could I leave them at a low psi for a day or two until I was ready to take it back out?

Thanks in advance for the advice

My buddy has dropped his stock tires on his F250 6.0 to 15psi and that was to do a jeep trail. Lol Just don't turn real sharp where you could roll a bead off. I'd mark the height on a long/tall 2x4 before and after, but do it in your driveway first....assuming you have a air compressor. This way you'll know what kind on height you'll lose.

Give it a try. I moved to North Carolina from West Palm Beach last week...what timing! My truck was about an inch too tall for my garage. I don't have clearance lights however taking the air out of the tires used to do just enough to get me into the garage. Just roll real real slow and lime said above no sharp turns. Good luck and stay safe.

You can leave the tires low for a few days.

if you tires have been mounted to the wheels for a few months..

you could lower air pressure to 15psi..... so tire beads do not loosen at rims...

so taking covers off lights will not be needed.
