Might go away if you put the fuse in that was in the glove box when new if it has a trailer tow package. Other wise I can't see why it was on. I towed an enclosed trailer with a battery and never got any message except it was connected and all the lights were working properly. When I put the fuse in no new message was added but the battery charged.
I understand that, but computer that checks the trailer comnnections may not. If he has a breakaway for electric brakes he does and that's what it maybe looking for.. If surge brakes it still could be looking for a battery. I'd put in the fuse if he hasn't.
