Was hoping you guys could direct me to who produces a good frame mount mudflap that doesn't look like crap. I don't want mudflaps, but I understand the safety issues and I don't want to get pulled over again. The highway PD let me off again, but stated that he put it in the system to give me no more warnings next time, haha.
I was shooting some street photography in Seattle last year and grabbed this sweet city rig, man they've kept her clean!
Don't you have some kind of department of transportation that you can go to and get specific requirements? I was born, raised and lived half my life in Montana so know a bit about these tin badge cops up there. Montana is one of the most lawless states, so these cops decide to enforce rules that aren't even written.
They can't require you to add parts that didn't come on it from the factory.
That being said, when I get back into a pre80's truck, I will definitely be putting on some of these.

And I would think about putting that to the test(which they hate it when people throw around the law during a traffic stop), but a "street rod" as defined is something pre-1949 in design I believe, and I think I would lose that fight. While I don't believe my Ford came out of the factory with mudflaps, I think they would get ticky-tacky with that language and I would lose.
There is a comma there, my friend, so it is listing 3 things.
1)street rod
2)a vehicle not originally equipped
3)a vehicle not originally required.
I agree, a traffic stop is not the time to get into particulars. I would be proactive and visit your local department of transportation before you need to and find out what is what, but that is me.
