I think that sums it up pretty good. In honor of all those who served, and especially those that didn't come home....

Very moving, very impressive. I hope your veterans are well thought of in your country, it has not always been so here in Australia. Many academics and left wing political types for many years demonised our service people, but for perhaps the last 10-15 years there has been a groundswell of support and now our national day of remembrance is very popular again, and it is amazing to see how blatantly some speak out against it.

We call it ANZAC day, in remembrance of our boys from Australia and New Zealand Army Corps, who were landed at the wrong beach at Gallipoli in 1915 and faced horrendous odds. They continued a fine tradition of serving our country started in the Boer war in late 1800's. It is good to see them honoured nowadays.

We actually have more than one holiday in the States for our military.

Memorial Day is a US Federal holiday wherein the men and women who died while serving in the US Armed Forces are remembered.

Veterans Day is an official US Federal holiday that honors people who have served in the US Armed Forces, also known as veterans.

I don't like to confuse the two days meanings, as I'm one of the latter, and don't feel it appropriate to be included in remembrance of the former. They gave all.

Thanks Doc so moving, it stopped me in my tracks , and thank you Joe for the clarification, I didn't know that. I don't know how any one could not be profoundly moved by all the sacrifice, so many souls lost for our freedoms.

I had the privilege of working along side an Australian Military Training Team in Iraq in 2007. And was invited to attend their ANZAC ceremony. I was astounded by how much carnage the Australian Services have endured. I was honored to have been able to share their ceremony and customs that Day with our Brothers in Arms. I still have the poppy given to me that day.
