The guy that bought my moms house 8/2001, was a Beverly Hills oriental rug dealer, he bought it for his daughter, paying over a million bucks cash.
Was that in California? Lots of la-de-da people & neighborhoods out there.
No such properties in my life, my mom lost her home + retirement income in the 2008 stock market crash (me and my sister took over her car payments) and she came and lived with me until she died.
We're really getting off-topic to this guy's quest for armrests, I'm gonna check out Gary's site.
Was that in California? Of course! Grandma, her son and daughter (my mom) moved to CA in 1933 from 'stinking weed' driving The National Old Trails Highway (Route 66).
Google Earth this puppy, kiddo and you'll see that it resold for 2 million + bucks in 2015:
11155 Montana Avenue, Los Angeles CA 90049.
My grandmother bought this house in 1939 for $23,000.00 (prior years, she lived in Pasadena). My mom bought it from her in 1960, but I don't know what price she paid.
Westwood, Anaheim and Thousand Oaks were developed by the Janss Brothers. This house in Westwood (L/A 90049) was built in 1933 for Dr. Herman Janss.
There's a similar English Tudor located on Dalkeith, it was built for the other Janss brother.
Dalkeith is located off Montana, I can't recall what the other brothers name or the address of the house is, but I know what the house looks like.
To answer the original question, no the door panels from an newer truck will not fit an '80-'86 door because the door handle itself is in a different place on the '87+ doors. I just swapped the doors from a '91 crew cab onto my '86 in order to get full-sized windows, and saw this was the case.
rspasoje, so the doors will swap, but not the panels. Well, that is a bummer! That means I am going to be doing a more hands on, less stock looking repair to them.
Thanks for the info man!
No problem! Now that I think about it more, another problem with the newer panels would be the felt strip for the window guide is longer on the newer trucks because of the bigger windows and the pre-molded holes would not line up to put the shorter strip on either.
Definitely gonna be stuck fixing the ones you have.
Of course if you can find doors form a newer crew cab that match yours, it is only six bolts per door and you are done....
Yup, stuck. Dad wants to trade me his cowboy cadillac for a standard cab OTF (Other Than Ford) I have up here. If I do it, I am definately looking for a newer set of rear doors!
Well I bought the 2 armrests off ebay and found a junk yard in East Texas that has a tan right side door panel which I am sure will be easy to dye or spray blue. Thanks for all the help guys.
