how to test timing chain?

how to test timing chain?
how do I test this thinng and check it for wear? it seams to have some play in it and need to know when to change it or if it needs it. do chains really stretch? the gears look in good shape.

how to test timing chain?
Remove the distributor cap, put a big socket and breaker bar on the crank pulley and rotate the crank back and forth. Watch for when the rotor just begins to turn. The crank will turn easy when it's in this slop zone. See how many crank degrees of slop there are, 10* is time to change, 16* is time to jump a tooth.
