we have a 97 Explorer 4.0L motor without the SOHC

A small amont of coolant is leaking from the timing chain cover gasket area on the drivers side.

Do I need to replace the timing chain cover gasket only? Other things that will cause coolant to weep out of the side of the timing chain cover when hot or I do a pressure test?

The radiator and water pump are fairly new. Explorer has about 115K miles.

Tips? Tricks? Wisdom?

No fluids under timiing chain cover, probably weeping from head and running along timing cover

 

The water pump mounts on the timing cover and coolant does go threw it. Ya sounds like its gasket time. I found this thred cause I'm in for the same thing by the looks of it on my wifes 99. How did yours turn out?
