Welding in frame question.

Welding in frame question.
Have welded on a few Mustangs with no problems....exhaust, subframe connectors etc..
Welded a reinforcement plate on the firewall of a toyota and fried the ecm.
So now I need to tack a reducer insert into the ends of the trailer hitch bracket to install camper tie down brackets.
Do I need to disconnect all ecm(s) before using a mig???
I suppose I can tack it with an oxy-acetylene.....just need to find one..lol!!

Here you go. You are right to be concerned because it is not just the PCM.
See the attached Bulletins.
BTW, when I started my van to back it off the flatbed after being converted to 4x4 by the Red Bluff converter, the cluster blew. It was covered under warranty, but likely the cutting and welding during the conversion process caused the failure.

Great find!!!
Was thinking on a newer vehicle maybe the systems were better isolated....I cant imagine an upfitter disconnecting all those modules to weld.
Like mentioned, I've been fat, dumb and happy modifying mustangs with a mig welder over the years, if I hadn't fried the toyota ECM I'd never have given it a second thought.
Thank goodness I found a salvaged ECM on fleabay for $75.
When I opened up the blown module, it appeared to be one resistor that was obviously fried....I always wondered if that $.50 part would of fixed it.
