I'm having issues installing the windshield in my '60 crew. Any tips or tricks to get it aligned correctly? Maybe "start here" with the cord or something? It's normal seal, no trim. These windshields are so contoured it makes me nervous...
Not jumping your thread and I know my response might not be of help, maybe it will. My 60 f100 needs the seal replaced. The PO gave me the seal. I want to cut out the old seal and remove the windshield so that I can do some preventative rustproofing before install. Will a window shop or a safelight re-install the windshield? I have done them before but the curve does concern me too. It would be worth it to me to pay someone $50-100 to do the install.
Here is a YouTube video for the install. He explains, but doesn't actually show it going in. I think you set it in at the top and pull in the bottom. I've been leery of trying it myself and figure it worth the money to let a pro handle it.

The response I always get from a glass shop with my own glass , if they try at all, they aren't responsible for it if it cracks or breaks and these old wrap arounds, most of them will probably shy completely away from.
When I did mine I had the rope around with the ends of the rope finishing in the middle of the top. I sprayed the crap out of the seal with soapy water. I sat the windshield in place and made sure it was centered. I then got it started pulling the rope while my son pressed gently on the outside. Go equal amounts each way and take care around the side. It the windshield is not centered, you need to start over. If centered it should go pretty easy on each side. Then as you do the bottom, it is straight and goes pretty good after the ends are done. Don't be afraid to use lots of soapy water, that makes it much easier. It is not very hard to do as long as you don't get in a hurry and it is easier with 2 people, but I have done it by myself also. I bought my seal from Dennis Carpenter and was very happy with it.
You want to avoid finishing on the sides, finish on the bottom.
I did mine but didn't use soapy water, I used full strength liquid dish soap on the seal. Apply generously. Really makes it glide in nice. Pretty sure the engine was out at the time and had the war dept. stand in the engine bay and keep pressure on it. Definitely want to start with it even on both sides. Take a measurement and put a mark on the flange and the window so you know it is in the middle. Don't be scared, it is only glass and you can only break it once. It will make a heck of a story!
