Windshield re&re.

I found this excellent summary in a recent post:

Thought I'd tell you about my windshield installation. New glass (green tint), new window seal (Carpenters) and some cleaned stainless trim. Firstly I had the glass shipped from California and found out later that I could have had it shipped free from Salt Lake. Tip here is check with your local windshield installer. Two person job. Layed the glass on a stand face down and installed the new seal. Used duct tape to hold it in place. Then flipped it over and carefully installed the stainless. The connector clips were installed with the stainless. More duct tape. Install a heavy cord in the seal slot with overlap at the bottom. Spray the seal with aluma lube. Then we set the assembled and lubed windshield in place. One guy pushes from the outside the other guy inside slowly pulls the cord out and installs the seal lip over the windshield flange on the truck. The hardest part was installing the trim in the gasket, getting it even and getting the connector clips installed. The installer (I helped) used a product called aluma-lube not soap. Amazing stuff. Final bill 195 for the glass 30 bucks or so for the seal, 200 for shipping and 90 bucks for the installer and he did such a good job I tipped him 20 bucks.

No sealer or goop of any kind mentioned. Is that correct?
TIA, Eric

Havn't used the Aluma-lude; but done the installation same way as mention several times. Does the aluma-lude leave residue on the cowl area etc?

I never heard of alum-a-lube so I Googled it, and read this. Alum-a-Lube lubricant has been used in the window repair industry for decades. This helps in proper operation and safety. Other uses are for anything that sticks and squeaks! It is a scant pricey too.

Hope you are happy for years to come.
