4r100 help please

Front pump seal was leaking pretty bad. Pulled the tranny, dropped the pan, removed the filter, took TC out and pump bolts out but now I'm not 100% sure what my next step is to take the pump out.

I want to replace the pump gasket, o-ring, bushing and seal. Anyone ever done this? I want to make sure I don't just start yanking at things and screwing it up.

You are almost there. Here is a good video:

Slide hammer is next, or you can thread a bolt (or 2) back in and pry against them.

For pulling there's a few options, but for re-install to not hurt any of the seals or sealing circlips/rings, it's advisable to finish with the transmission on it's tailstock and gently maneuvering the from pump into place being careful to not damage the seals or pump sealing rings. Don't force anything, and not sure but Matt can chime on for the 4R100, but there may be an advantage (as there is why Dodge trans) to keeping the pan off during that and maneuvering the from drum assemblies gently if needed to let the pump drop into place of it's own accord without forcing it.

Place the trans standing on it's "tail". You can place a couple of spacers to straddle the output shaft and secure the bell housing to the pole in the picture. If you try to do it laterally, you risk dragging out the Coast Clutch drum and the OD roller clutch popping apart. I haven't really had many issues with pulling out the pump. Once the bolts and input shaft are out, some firm pulling while wigging the stator shaft usually allows it to come free and out. You will need to split the pump to replace the bushing. Make careful notation of the oil groove direction and its location within the pump housing. There also some notches with which to "stake" the bushing. You will also need a way to align the two halves during reassembly. Some sort of band around the housing will help. When installing, liberally lube the Teflon sealing rings with Transjel, or petroleum jelly, to hold them seating in their grooves as it is lowered back in place. Sometimes the rings will need a little help with a small screwdriver to make sure they go inside the Coast Clutch drum without damage. You will be able to see, and access them, from the pan side.
Hope this helps. If you have more questions, please feel free to PM me.
