Meet Gracie
Just brought home a '64 F100 stepside. Rookie mechanic as well...but i'm willing to learn!
Just sorting out insurance and the garage I'm keeping her in. My plan is to keep her original as possible...maintain and repair as needed...plue' my smokin' hot wife for a ride to get ice cream!
Best news, my lovely wife is 100% on board with my project.

Recommend acquiring a reprint copy of the 1964 Ford Truck Shop Manual, it has the testing and troubleshooting, inspection and repair procedures, specifications &c. The owners manual is reprinted as well, but isn't nearly as detailed. You want that too, though. Be safe - a full size fire extinguisher is wise to have on hand, esp. with a "new" old truck. It's not paranoid to disconnect the negative battery terminal till the wiring harness is known to be serviceable. Keep a wheel chocked to prevent rollaway until the brakes are checked out. Don't use cinder blocks as jackstands.
Heater boxes on these era trucks are notorious for collecting leaves and debris and catching fire. As in "fully involved total the whole damn truck" fire. Be sure to check for this. Hood latch and safety catch are well known for failing at highway speed, be sure to inspect, adjust as necessary and lubricate for correct operation. Hoods getting harder to find in good shape I bet. Maybe you know all this stuff already. How about some more pics?
thanks for the check list.
battery unattached, wheels chocked.
brakes need to be sorted out...never thought of the heater box. Had a bushel of leaves when we trailer her home! on the list!
Tricky uploading from mobile.
