40 panel project or?

I've had a couple month hiatus from home camp I'm probably going to weed out some of my more ambitious projects like the 36 coupe and Falcon. Still some 57-60 stuff brewing but trying to decide whether to plow ahead on the 40 panel. There's some chance I might not live long enough to finish it but I hate to give up. I have been thinking a while on 57-60 axles and steeing, just a little wider than original, maybe a couple inches. Probably F100, run some 33x9.50s to keep with the original profile.

Engines I have,223, 292, 302, 429. Kinda leaning toward the 429 but would need different heads, the D0VE are over 10 to one compression. It's complete in the Merc, wouldn't have to find much. Have a 3.70 limited slip, should be happy with the 33s. I like stickshifts but probably keep the C6 for simplicity whether I use the 302 or 429. Don't have an auto for the 292 or 223.
What do you all think.

I think you are a trooper. None of us really know how many projects we still have in front of us. Maybe you could find wheels with an inward offset to narrow the stance if you used the fridge axles. Starting with the jailbar trucks the body got about 2 1/2" wider. Aren't your scout axles a bit narrower than a pickup? Hang in there pal, and keep getting better. Don't forget about taking time for that road trip.

I kinda pushed the Scout stuff on the back burner because they are 3.54s and I needed 4.11s to make that all work with the diesel and overdrive. I still have the radar out for 4.11 Scout axles.

I've been on the Grand Marquis all day. I've got a 1300 mile road trip this week for my last Dr. appointment in Minneapolis. I had new shocks put on, plugs and one coil. She's ready to burn up some road!!!

Hope all goes well with the trip and doc. You posted pictures for me of the rear of your 40 panel for help figuring out how to deal with the cracking in my door frame and sheetmetal. Did you ever start a thread on the 40 panel? I could not find one.

No, I'm not regimented enough to maintain a build thread. I just randomly post stuff I'm doing.
I'm pretty sure I'll get the 59 and 60 pickups bought in a few days. The 60 is a complete 4x4 and might run, probably just flip it to get my money back and the 59 will be parts. Nice chrome grill for my 59 and running gear for the panel. I think I'll get it back in town as soon as I have an immune system and can get anything done without risking my health. Couple months hopefully.

So right now, I'm leaning toward the 59 axles and the 429/C6. I'll need to swap heads on the 429
