I posted a few threads about the P04DB code over the past several months. Last month while on vacation it came back and this time I was getting an engine light. So I finally got around to taking it in. The A/C blower was also making a clicking noise so I thought I would take care of both of those. At 41k and 42 months in service, the factory drive train warranty covered the CCV sensor replacement. The fan blower had to be replaced. My extended warranty covered that part. So for anyone who is getting that P04DB past 3/36, it is covered under the 5/60.
Replacing the sensor with another one that will fail is "conquering" it? Myself, I'm ordering a buck converter for < $10 to supply a constant ~3V DC to the PCM. It's a dummy sensor anyways that doesn't affect PCM operation.

Yes. It is fixed and the warranty covered it. If it fails again the warranty will cover it again. If it wasn't under warranty I would consider your method.
