6 speed question

ok i'm looking at having to rebuild a 460 for my 1989 f250 4x4 to use as a tow vehicle. it currently has a 5.8 v8 and a zf 5speed. basically i'd like to switch from a 5speed setup to a 6 speed setup and i was wondering if the 6speeds that are behind the V-10's will bolt up to a 460. basically i have to trade trannys anyway so i was hopeing to spend the extra money and get a the six speed.
thanks

6 speed question

I am thinking the V-10 has the same bellhousing as the 4.6/5.4. But knowing Ford probably not. The only reason I say they do because the V10 is just a 5.4 with 2 more cylinders.

The 6 speed is offered behind the 5.4 now too so this lends more credence to your theory. I don't know if they use a different bell housing though??

yeah i guess thats the information that i really need to know...if the bellhousing bolt pattern is different from the 460 to the 5.4 or v-10. also if that particular tranny has a removeable bellhousing..unlike the orginal zf that is currently in my truck. thanks for the information.
